WHY DO WE NEED SPF IN OUR PRODUCTS

It is NEVER too late (or too early) to use SPF protection in your daily routine!

Summer is coming really soon, and so is the talk of x-rays and sun protective products. But did you know that SPF is important even if the weather is blue (cloudy, raining, and even cold)!
After talking to some dermatologists they informed me that we should be applying our sun cream every 2 hours for the right protection. After two hours the product absorbs into our skin and it's not efficient anymore.

Ultraviolet light is electromagnetic radiation found in sunlight. There are two types of ultraviolet light which reach the earth’s surface, UVA, and UVB rays.
Ninety-five percent of the radiation that reaches earth are UVA rays. They penetrate deep into the epidermis and are the major culprit behind premature aging. These rays are present every day, no matter the weather. They so strong, they can even penetrate the ozone layer, clouds, and glass!

The remaining five percent of ultraviolet radiation is UVB rays. These are much more short-lived and are easily absorbed by the ozone layer and clouds. They are a lot more intense than UVA rays however and burn the superficial layers of your skin. As a result, it is these rays which are responsible for sunburn and the acceleration of skin aging. It’s important to note that both can cause skin cancer.
SPF (sun protection factor) is a measure of how efficiently a sunscreen protects you from UVB. You’d, therefore, assume that a suntan lotion with SPF 100 protection would give you double the amount of coverage as an SPF 50 wouldn’t you? A suntan lotion with an SPF 15 blocks around 94% of UVB rays; an SPF 30 product in comparison blocks 97% of UVB rays; SPF 50 blocks 98% of rays whereas an SPF 100 blocks around 99%! The difference is subsequently minimal but people are more likely to be lulled into a false sense of security if they believe they are protected for the remainder of the day whilst wearing a higher factor.
As a result, we recommend wearing an SPF 30, applying liberally and reapplying often! (omorovicza.com)
